So it has been a week and change since I last posted; the internet on the islands is very slow and spaced out so I haven't been able to get on a computer since before we left. Since then though, I have had some truely amazing experiences!
We just arrived to ANET (Andaman Nicobar Evironmental Team) yesturdaywhere we will be staying for 5 days to study mangroves. The past week we were on Havelock Island where we stayed on a beachfront resort of sorts and did A LOT of scuba diving! Th water is always 27 degrees C.I dovefor 5 strait days because I already had my certicfication and also completed two advanced dives, deep water and fish identification. When deep diving I even saw a white tiped reef shark which was really cool as well as hundreds of different fish and corals. Havelock Island was truely wonderful an there were many people from all over the world there so it was nice to meet then and make some friends while diving.
Today at ANET we took a tour of the place which was a hike through the rainforest and a mangrove comparison between tsunami struck mangrove and untouched mangroves and the difference was astounding. I have yet to get sick and the food has been wonderful we have been constantly pestered by Pelkey about our health which is good and when we head back to FERAL in Pondy on the 15th we will be seeing the local pediatrician for a check up.
Well my internet time is up for the cafe and I should be able to get back on the net on the 15th when we arive back at FERAL. All the internet kinks have been fixed there so I will have constant internet for a few weeks once the 15th rolls by. Well I hope all is well in the states and I hope winter isn't too cold there because it is a comfortable mid to high 80's here and 70's at night.
Enjoy your winter while im here sweating like crazy climbing through mangroves!(oh and we also learned how to tree climb rope harness and all so I literally mean climbing)
love, cj
